5 Ways to get traffic from Sphinn
escrito por Esteban en Social Networks el November 9th, 2007Sphinn is a great digg-like community where we can read seo related articles submitted by other people. We can also participate into the community by submitting, voting and commenting news.
But if you have your own blog, you can also use Sphinn to get traffic to it:
1.- Add Sphinn Button: adding a “Sphinn it” button to your blog is a must if you want to get traffic to it, readers will be able to submit or sphinn your article by clicking on the button. It can be downloaded from here
2.- Register and Participate: by registering in the community and sphinning articles, people will see your username and might click on it, what would make them see your profile page. Don’t forget to add a link to your site in your profile.
3.- Leave Commentaries: by leaving commentaries, your user profile will get great exposure and lots of sphinn users will probably see it, if you have your blog url on your profile, this will drive you lots of traffic.
4.- View other profiles: after seeing another user profile, a link to your profile will appear on that visited profile. This would be great, cause if the other user is online, he will probably notice you visited his profile and enter to your profile and t your blog.
5.- Submit your articles: first write high quality content and then just submit it to Sphinn, bu don’t overdoit as it may be seen as if you were spamming.
Sphinn Bug: New users can submit more than 1 resource per day!
escrito por Esteban en Social Networks el November 2nd, 2007I recently signed up at the SEM social network Sphinn, already submitted an article from other blog (not mine) and I wanted to submit an article from mine, but couldn’t because of the spamming protection Sphinn has (it won’t let new users submit more than 1 resource per day for the first 7 days).
So after waiting a lot of time, I accidentally clicked on the “sphinn it” link on my blog on one of my articles and it did send me to the submit a new resource page. I completed all the fields thinking that after clicking submit it would tell me that new users aren’t allowed to post more than 1 per day, but it worked.
So if we submit an article by writing http://sphinn.com/submit.php?url=http://www.seoislife.com in the navigation bar, the Sphinn anti spam system won’t bother us and we will be able to submit as many resources as we like to.
I am also submitting this article to Sphinn to show that it is a real bug, sphinn developers please fix it!
8 No nofollow high PR blogs
escrito por Esteban en Link Building el November 2nd, 2007A nofollowed link won’t pass any link juice to your site, so it is useless getting nofollowed links if you just want to improve your serps. Blogs mostly have nofollow tag on it’s comments to prevent people commenting only because of the link juice, however there are some bloggers that decided to remove this nofollow tag from their blog comments, so if you comment there including a link to your site it will definitively affect your rankings.
If you check the source code of each of them, you will notice that sine have a rel tag named “external”, some people think it works as the nofollow tag, but it is just the xhtml valid version of _blank (to open link on a new page).
PR 7 no nofollow blogs:
PR 6 no nofollow blogs:
Tom Raftery IT
Jangro
Randa Clay
PR5 no nofollow blogs:
Curious Cat Science and Engineering
Last Blogger
Life Learning Today
Smart Wealthy Rich
When submitting a new comment, don’t make it look too spammy or it will probably get deleted. I recommend putting your name plus keywords you want to rank for in the name field, because if you just put the keywords, your comment will have more chances of getting deleted.
Some more Tips:
- Search the post that is most related to your bussines and comment there.
- Check which are the posts with more incoming backlinks or the most popular ones (they should be the ones with higher PR).
- Make use of deep linking.

5 Steps to selling links without getting penalized by Google
escrito por Esteban en Link Building el November 1st, 2007In the last PR Update, we were witnesses of how Google penalized the sites that were selling text links without the nofollow atribute (they pass PR). This is what lead me to think, how can I sell links without getting penalized:
1.- Buy text links here: most sites today have this phrase, which they use as a link to a contact form so that users interested in buying links can contact us and buy a link from us. If you do have this on your site, don’t remove it (if you don’t have it, add it), you are still going to sell links so the best thing you can do is continue showing potential customers they have the possibility of buying a link on the site.
2.- Advertisers with nofollow: we just need to show Google what they want to see, for this create a division somewhere in your page and write the word “advertisers” followed up by some links with the nofollow attribute. These links won’t be real advertisers, it is just to make Google think we are doing what they want us to do.
3.- Sites I like: now comes the part where real advertisers will be added, you will have to create a new division again and write “Sites I like” or something like that to make it look natural, below this you will add your do-follow paid links.
4.- Remove from Automated Brokers: as we don’t want Google to find us selling real do-follow links, we have to remove all the evidence that could make someone found we are trying to game the system, so we just have to remove the site from all the automated brokers where we added it, such as Text Link Ads.
5.- Don’t accept crap sites: Would you really believe someone likes a site that is totally crap? Probably not, Google won’t either. If Google sees that all the sites under “Sites I like” are crap sites, it will notice something strange: How can a person like those sites? Remember everything should look as natural as possible.
For Directories: if you offer paid links that will be added into your directory, add into the submit link page that the fee is required so that you can be able to spend time reviewing new submissions so that only quality sites can get into it. Google won’t penalize that, it said it was OK to do that, but write that to make it clear.
Positive Aspects:
- You don’t have to remove the buy text links here ad, so you have more chances of selling links. It is not just via private emails.
- Looks real, natural.
- You can sell links with nofollow attribute for cheap.
Negative Aspects:
- Some people that don’t realize what you are really doing, may think the site will get penalized by Google for selling links or won’t be interested because they will think you are selling nofollowed links.
Using this simple 5 steps you are just gaming the system, showing Google what they want to see and offering what you really want to offer.
9 Killer headlines that will make it to the Top
escrito por Esteban en Headlines el November 1st, 2007A good headline is everything when writing an article with the purpose of Link Baiting, it will make other people click on it and read it, or continue reading until they find something that looks interesting for them. People will even digg your article because of your headline, so many times it is just your headline the one that makes your article be on front-page.
For writing a killer headline you always have to keep in mind that it should perfectly describe the article (in not many words if possible) and look really “catchy” at the same time; remember always that the first action we need someone to take is click on the headline.
Here I will list 10 headlines that look really good and will work with any niche, you just have to replace the blanks and make it suitable for your niche.
